Highly specialized in aiding you through major life transition

For the last decade, Alissa has facilitated individuals through the innate process of change - helping them not only traverse uncertain times, but integrate new versions of themselves whom are grounded & empowered to take on the new. Critical rites-of-passage shape our lives, but rarely are we given the space and opportunity to properly honor them. Reverence for this messy, painful, and transformational process is necessary to get from where we are to where we are going, whether we chose this change for ourselves or not. This process enlivens us to discover the nuanced wisdom living in our life’s-story, process the pains of our past that have brought us to this distinct moment, and prepare for what’s next.

Arrive in pieces, leave whole.

Together, we can find ways that work with your unique system. If you are neurodiverse, have a history of complex trauma or are currently navigating chronic illness, you need specialized care from someone who understands the added complexity of your inner world & how it impacts your relationship to your outer world. Formulaic methods don’t cut it, and often intensify feelings of alienation when they don’t work. It is crucial that your therapist normalizes your experience, helps you understand your strengths and pain points, and works collaboratively with you to create innovative approaches that you truly resonate with.

There’s nothing to “fix”.

When you labor to “fix” yourself, you may begin feeling even more empty and broken than when you began. It’s easy to fall into a perpetual cycle of self-criticism, judgement, and emotional burn-out, exacerbated by endless attempts to tame or stop the impulses that drive it. A new approach can help break the cycle of pain; an approach that honors the pieces that you’ve tried so hard to fix. When each part of the self is given space to be heard and understood, rather than being diminished or avoided, tension eases, a greater sense of clarity emerges, a path forward reveals itself. Through this process, self-trust grows as conflicting needs become a cohesive whole, instead of continuing to tear you apart. You begin to see your inner world as a thriving ecosystem, not a war zone. You begin to see yourself deeply rather than critically. In this system, synthesis and peace are possible.

Regulate to Integrate.

The words “regulation” & “processing” are BIG right now, but what are they, and how do we do them? You may spend a lot of time and energy trying to “think” your way to regulation, or “think through your process”. But if you could simply “think” your way to feeling better, you would feel better by now. Talking or thinking about our frustrations and hurts can help, until we find ourselves stuck in one mode. “Feel your feelings,” people say, which is, of course, entirely unhelpful… without a process that innately helps us do that. The key is pacing, safety, and potent, personalized regulation tools. When we honor our own processing speed, create internal & external safety, and care for the parts of ourselves we’ve tried endlessly to tame, we access a part of ourselves that is often overburdened or offline entirely. But when we follow the wisdom of our internal systems, we access deep, relieving regulation, to which processing and integration naturally follow.
